Talent Strategies is recruiting a Dental Assistant Float in Los Angeles County, CA for a full-time opportunity supporting multiple community health dental clinics.
This Dental Assistant (DA) Float position provides coverage across multiple clinic locations based on staffing and operational needs. Candidates must be comfortable traveling between assigned locations and working an 8-hour schedule that may vary within clinic operating hours. Some Saturday coverage is also required each month.

Dental Assistant Float Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Completion of a Dental Assistant Program
- Dental Assistant experience in a clinical setting
- Bilingual English/Spanish required
- Comfortable working as a float across multiple dental clinic locations
- Ability to travel between assigned clinic locations
- Flexibility to work varying 8-hour shifts based on clinic coverage needs
- Availability for some Saturday coverage each month
- Strong understanding of dental infection control and sterilization procedures
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume dental clinics
- Strong patient service and communication skills
- Reliable, adaptable, and team-oriented
- Interest in stable, long-term employment and continued growth in the dental field
Dental Assistant Certifications
Candidates should have the following certifications, as applicable:
- Coronal Polishing
- Radiation Safety
- Infection Control
- CPR/BLS – must be current by start
About the Dental Assistant Float Position
The Dental Assistant Float supports dentists and clinical teams across multiple community health and FQHC dental clinics throughout Los Angeles County.
Rather than being assigned exclusively to one clinic, this position provides coverage where needed across designated locations. The DA should be comfortable adapting to different providers, team members, clinic workflows, and patient needs while maintaining consistent standards for quality, safety, and patient care.
Responsibilities include chairside dental assisting, preparing treatment rooms and instruments, taking dental X-rays and intraoral images, maintaining infection control and sterilization standards, supporting patient flow, and helping create a positive experience for patients throughout their visit.
Candidates with experience in an FQHC, Community Health Center, nonprofit dental clinic, Denti-Cal practice, or other high-volume dental environment are especially encouraged to apply.
Dental Assistant Float Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during clinical procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, equipment, and dental materials
- Take dental X-rays and intraoral images
- Perform delegated Dental Assistant procedures consistent with certification and scope
- Perform coronal polishing if appropriately certified
- Assist with impressions and other delegated dental procedures
- Maintain sterilization, infection control, and clinical safety protocols
- Clean and prepare operatories between patients
- Support efficient patient flow and clinic productivity
- Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after dental treatment
- Provide patient education and reinforce provider instructions
- Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
- Follow HIPAA, infection control, and workplace safety requirements
- Assist with dental supplies, instruments, and clinical organization
- Communicate effectively with dentists, patients, and other dental team members
- Collaborate with clinical and front office teams to support positive patient experiences
- Travel between assigned dental clinic locations based on coverage needs

Work Environment & Schedule
Full-Time | 8-Hour Shifts
This is a true Dental Assistant Float position providing coverage across multiple community health dental clinic locations throughout Los Angeles County.
Individual 8-hour shifts vary within clinic operating hours based on location, staffing, and coverage needs.
The schedule also includes some Saturdays each month.
Travel between assigned clinic locations is required, and mileage reimbursement is provided according to employer guidelines.
Compensation
Pay: Up to $27/hour + Mileage Reimbursement
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, certifications, interview outcome, and the final decision between the client and candidate.
